8. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A non systemic agricultural fungicide and miticide classified as a group Y fungicide.

9. APPLICATION METHODS AND TIPS:

Ensure thorough coverage.

Best results in cool, fine weather.

Don't mix with or apply within 3weeks of oils or oil based sprays.

10. ADJUVANTS, WETTERS, OILS:

Use a non-ionic wetting agent on hard to wet, waxy and hairy species.

Don't use spray oils or mix with formulations containing mineral oils.

11. EQUIPMENT:

Use equipment that provides thorough penetration and coverage of the foliage.

12. SPRAYER WASH OUT AND DECONTAMINATION:

Triple rinse with water and wetting agent or detergent.

13. WATER OR CARRIER DATA:

14. WEATHER:

May cause scorching in hot dry conditions.

15. RAINFASTNESS:

<15 mins

16. SOIL:

No specific effects.

17. PLANT HEALTH and OTHER EFFECTS:

May cause scorching in hot weather. Use lower rates under warmer conditions.

Apricots, Cucumbers, and Rockmelons are sensitive and may be severely scorched.

18. WITHHOLDING PERIODS:

19. PLANT BACK PERIODS or RECROPPING INTERVALS:

No plantback required.

20. MODE OF ACTION:

Inorganic.

21. PESTICIDE RESISTANCE:

Some species may be resistant or develop resistance with continued application. Rotate with products from alternative groups.

22. TOXICITY:

Poison schedule - S0

Summary: Low toxicity to mammals.

Details:

Poison schedule - 0

Mammalian toxicity - Low

Acute oral LD50 - >2200 mg/kg (rats), [For comparison table salt is 3000 mg/kg]

Acute dermal LD50 - >2000 mg/kg (rabbit). Low toxicity.

Skin -Non irritating (Rabbit). Non sensitising (Guinea Pig).

Eye - Non irritating (Rabbit) but granules may cause physical discomfort.

Vapour inhalation - LC50 - 5.4 mg/L air (rat).

Chronic oral toxicity NOEL - ppm for two years.

Not mutagenic or teratogenic (i.e. does not cause cancer or reproductive problems).

Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) -

23. TOXICITY SYMPTOMS:

Does not usually cause symptoms.

24. FIRST AID:

If SWALLOWED - Practically non toxic. Rinse mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give plenty of water to drink. Keep patient at rest.

If in EYES - Irrigate for 15 minutes with plenty of water.

If on SKIN - Rinse with plenty of water, remove contaminated clothing, wash with soap and water.

If INHALED - Remove patient to fresh air.

If patient has symptoms or is concerned contact a doctor immediately.

Advice to doctor - Treat symptomatically. No specific antidote.

Call Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26

Boots.

Wear a dust mask if necessary.

26 RE ENTRY PERIODS and OTHER SAFETY ISSUES:

None required.

27. PROPERTIES:

Product appearance - Grey to yellow granules or powder with a faint sulphur odour.

Shelf Life - Long

Product Flammability - Combustible when exposed to flame or heat or by chemical reaction with oxidising agents. Sulphur dust in air mixtures can build up static charges which can be explosive. Toxic, irritating and suffocating gases such as sulphur dioxide may be produced in fire. Don't burn containers.

Ignition temperature - 25C. Ignites in air at 261C. Not self igniting.

Reactivity - Forms explosive mixtures with oxidising agents. Incompatible with organic peroxides and spontaneously combustible compounds. Combines easily with many other products and may form toxic substances.

Half life in water - days at pH5 and 35 C.

Water solubility at 25 C. - disperses in water.

Oil solubility -

Octanol:Water ratio at 25 C. - at pH 5.

Vapour Pressure at 25 C. - Low

Dissociation constant - pKa.

Melting point - C.

Boiling point -

Molecular weight - 32

Density - 0.8-1 kg/L

pH 6.5-7.5 at 10g/L

28. ENVIRONMENTAL FATE:

Summary - Low toxicity to most other species. Sulphur is a naturally occurring element and plant nutrient.

Birds - Non toxic. LC50 >5000 ppm

Fish - Non toxic. LC50 >100 ppm.

Invertebrates - Non toxic. LC50 >1000 mg/L

Worms - Low toxicity.

Bees - Non toxic.

Algae - Low toxicity EC50 and LC50 > 100 mg/L

It has a long half life in soil.

It has an EPA classification for soil mobility that ranges from

Ground water contamination

Accumulation in milk and tissues.

Being an inorganic substance it is not broken down and is slowly removed by biological organisms mainly in produce.

Avoid contaminating sewerage systems because the rate of elimination is slow.

29. COMPATIBILITY:

See HerbiGuide for compatability with other herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.

See HerbiGuide for a full list of pesticide compatibilities.
